I am Mr Unesco, someone who loves cultural heritage very dearly. You see; in 2021, we added selected works of the Slovene architect Jože Plečnik to the World Heritage List. By doing so, we acknowledged his exceptional universal value.
Jože Plečnik (1872-1957) left an important mark in Ljubljana (the capital of Slovenia). The mayor of Ljubljana at that time Ivan Hribar (1851–1941), who held the office between 1896 and 1910, also contributed to rebuilding and modernizing the city after the earthquake in 1895. Some of his ideas came to life much later, such as the restored Ljubljana castle and the funicular to the castle hill.
Dear Mr Plečnik,
I cordially invite you to my rural “residence” in Cerklje na Gorenjskem. I truly appreciate you and I believe we could have a chat about forthcoming ambitious plans and prepare for Mr. Unesco’s visit. We have both substantially contributed to our nation and I suggest that we try to present to Mr. Unesco the key reasons why your architectural works should be inscribed on the World Heritage List.
Your visit would also be of a tourist nature, as we would take a look at eight sights in the vicinity of my rural villa, stroll in the nature and enjoy the beauty of the village below Krvavec. The amazing nature provides a perfect break from a daily life and we may become inspired to create new masterpieces.
What do you say?
The tour of Cerklje would end with delicacies in one of the many local guesthouses.
I hope you will respond to the invitation shortly.
See you soon!
Sincerely Yours,
Ivan Hribar, Cerklje na Gorenjskem
